Mark Kostabi
Mark Kostabi was born into a family of Estonian immigrants in Whittier, California, and studied drawing and painting at California State University. In 1982 he moved to New York, and by 1984 he had become a leading figure of the East Village scene, using the mass media in provocative ways.
In 1988 he founded “Kostabi World” in New York – studio, gallery and office in one. He has collaborated with Enrico Baj, Howard Finster, Tadanori Yokoo, Enzo Cucchi and Arman, and since 1996 he has divided his life between New York and Rome.
His faceless, timeless figures, reminiscent of De Chirico's mannequins, “can be all of us and none of us”. In our gallery you will find his limited edition screen prints, with certificate of authenticity and custom framing made in our workshop in Livorno.
