Giglia Acquaviva
Giglia Acquaviva is an Argentine painter born in Mendoza, who grew up partly in California and has lived in Italy since 2003. She was raised in a family where music, painting and theatre were part of everyday life; as a child she played the piano and, during a long stay near Yosemite Park, she fell in love with the beauty and power of nature.
Her early works were leather tapestries and copies of masters such as Picasso, Gauguin, Magritte, Klimt and Cézanne. She then developed a personal technique combining acrylic and sand, using unconventional tools such as tubes, sponges and paper that give her painting a rich, tactile texture. Her stylised, lively paintings, with echoes of Greek, Etruscan, Aztec, Inca, Roman and Oriental art, depict landscapes, castles and little “castellucci”, real or imagined, ancient memories and visual dreams.
Her artworks come with a certificate of authenticity and can be custom framed in our workshop in Livorno.
