Bruno Donzelli
Bruno Donzelli was born in Naples on 12 April 1941, and at the age of 21 he held his first solo show at the Galleria del Fiorino in Florence. In the mid-1960s his painting showed the influence of Pop Art, with a strong ironic streak and a visual language reminiscent of comics; in the following years he turned to the fantastic and reinterpreted images from the twentieth-century avant-gardes.
Since 1977 his central theme has been the “casellario dell'arte” (art filing cabinet), a playful survey of the protagonists and events of the century's art, followed by the “Siparietti impertinenti” (Impertinent Curtain-Raisers). His balance of joy, colour and irony shines through in the brilliant colours of his work.
He has exhibited at venues including Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara (1977), the Royal Palace of Caserta (2000), the Maschio Angioino in Naples (2007) and PAN in Naples (2012). In our gallery you will find his hand-retouched fine art giclée prints, with certificate of authenticity and custom framing made in Livorno.
