Giampaolo Talani
Giampaolo Talani was born in San Vincenzo (Livorno) on 13 March 1955. He attended the Liceo Artistico (art high school) and then the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence, where he studied under Goffredo Trovarelli.
A painter, printmaker and one of the few contemporary masters of the fresco technique, he exhibited in New York, Washington, Paris, New Orleans, Innsbruck, Cologne, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Beirut and Berlin. His works are held in public and private collections in Italy and abroad, and he is highly regarded in the United States. Among others, Vittorio Sgarbi and Umberto Cecchi have written about him.
His etchings from the 1970s and 1980s are collected in the volume La grafica giovane. Talani died in Pisa on 16 January 2018.
