Pino Procopio, born Giuseppe Antonio Procopio in Guardavalle in 1954, is a painter, sculptor and illustrator. After art school in Catanzaro he graduated in Architecture at La Sapienza in Rome in 1982, yet he chose figurative art to communicate emotions.

In his paintings everyday life turns surreal: fantastic, distorted figures, as if reflected in convex mirrors. He also retells the stories of the Greek gods, with their weaknesses, passions and conflicts. Animals and the sea recur in his work as a protest against the suffering of our time. His language is a new figuration close to primitivism.

He paints mostly in acrylic, often on canvases prepared with images from comics or objects related to the theme of the work. His sculptures are made from recycled materials or polychrome bronze castings. For printmaking he prefers etching.
