Francesco Musante
Francesco Musante was born in Genoa in 1950. He graduated from the Liceo Artistico in Genoa and then from the branch of the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti of Turin. His early explorations, in 1967–68, were abstract works built on broad fields of colour; from 1968 he began exhibiting in group shows, competitions and prizes, and since 1971 he has been a full-time artist.
After a phase close to Pop Art and Rauschenberg's Combine Paintings, from 1975 he painted female figures inspired by Klimt and the Vienna Secession, working in watercolour, oil, collage and etching. In 1985 his “omini” (little men) were born: fairy-tale characters immersed in surreal settings full of objects and words, with poetic phrases that evoke writers such as Fabrizio De André, Pablo Neruda and Hans Christian Andersen. His painting became lighter and less dramatic.
In our gallery you will find screen prints and original artworks, often enriched with mixed-media elements, collage and glitter, as well as small resin sculptures. Each artwork comes with a certificate of authenticity and can be custom framed in our workshop in Livorno.
